| Community Pride and Spirit are number one priorities
at Pamida. Our customers are our neighbors, our teachers,
our fellow business owners, our doctors—our partners
in maintaining a strong, thriving community. We are
fortunate that our communities have allowed us to see
the successes we have, and we recognize the importance
of giving back to those who have given so much to us.
In the year 2000, we developed the Pamida Foundation
to focus on charitable contributions to community organizations,
those with disabilities, and the underprivileged. The
Pamida Foundation has been going strong for over 5 years,
but we recognized the need to do more in our communities.
In the spring of 2005, the Community Relations Program
was born to further respond to the needs of those in
our communities. The Community Relations Program focuses
on building stronger community relations, seeing better
results, and working more effectively with our hometown
partners.
The Community Relations Program
Achieving maximum effectiveness as a hometown partner
involves much more than the day-to-day operations of
a business, it requires a proactive involvement in every
aspect of the community. In May of 2005, a Community
Relations Specialist (CRS) was appointed in each store
to drive our Community Relations efforts. Every CRS
was hand-picked for his or her enthusiasm, energy, and
most importantly, commitment to the community. The CRS
works with local organizations, schools, and families
in need, to hold fundraisers, activities, and other
events.
Some of the events that Pamida and the Community Relations
Specialist have sponsored to benefit various organizations
include, Shop with a Cop, Relay for Life, Hometown Hero
Day, Canine Rescue, Golf Tournaments, Farmer’s
Markets, Fire and Bicycle Safety Programs, and that’s
just to name a few. The possibilities are endless! If
you are interested in partnering with Pamida on a community
event, please contact your local Pamida store and ask
to speak with the Community Relations Specialist.
In addition to community activities, to raise our awareness
of the unique challenges each community faces, the CRS
or Store Team Leader attends local Chamber meetings
to contribute to the solutions of these challenges.
We believe if we all work together we can develop stronger,
more unified communities.
